Brossadent, the old big tree
Did I ever tell you about Brossadent, the old big tree ?
Well, Brossadent is not exactly old. Nor is it very big. But given that it's a tree which grows in a rather urban area, it's already quite big. Let me tell you its story.
Behind my house lies a parcel of land which belongs to the city. One day, about ten or twelve years ago, a very small baby tree came out of the ground, precisely on this parcel of land I told you about. It grew up fast and soon it became a lovely little tree.
But some people don't feel very concerned about lovely little trees. Every year or so, nasty evil-minded men (that is to say, people who are sent by the administration of the city to clean up grassy areas) come and cut down everything that grows up on every parcel of land owned by the city. My parents and me, who had grown to love Brossadent, couldn't stand the idea of letting people cut it down. This is why my dad decided to save Brossadent's life. He took a plank and painted a message on it : "Ne me coupez pas !" (which means "Don't cut me down !") and he pushed it into the ground, just ahead of the small tree. That was absolutely marvelous : now Brossadent seemed to speak ! That would probably touch those nasty men and they would spare its life ! We waited anxiously until the nasty men came and did their job. When they left, Brossadent was still there !
Since that day, Brossadent has been growing a lot and it would not be easy to cut it down, so we no longer worry about that. Brossadent has become part of the furniture (what a funny expression to say "faire partie du décor" !) and is very good company. Lots of birds like him and live in its branches, so in the morning their lovely chirpings wake you up.
By the way, perhaps you're wondering why I called this tree Brossadent ? I thought it was a funny name... I had this idea when I looked at it while brushing my teeth. And in Winter it looks somehow like a toothbrush... I have no picture to show you, but I'll take one tomorrow so that you can see it.
PS : I have updated my profile so if you want to learn more about me, please have a look at it :)
